type='text'>

i saw this on someone's journal so i decided to do it myself. some of the information is slightly personal in nature, but i don't mind sharing. ^_^

100 things you may or may not know about me...

1. i guess i'm lucky to have been born; apparently, my parents weren't planning on having another child after my sister and brother were born.

2. i bit the tip of my brother's nose off when i was very young, after he threatened to poke my eye out.

3. my middle name is joy, which i don't really like. i have always thought it was too 'girly'.

4. i was extremely shy when i was younger, and only had one or two close friends.

5. i used to have trouble telling people "no" out of fear they would hate me if i was not always nice to them.

6. i often felt like i was not on the same 'level' as the rest of my friends.

7. i  attended a very liberal private school when i was younger, which i think contributed to my weirdness. ^^;

8. at said school there were no grades given and students called the teachers by their first name.

9. i was always ahead of my peers in all other subjects except for math.

10. i still hate math. i can't even add up groceries without a calculator. ><

11. i dislike math, but i love science. i always wanted to be a veterinarian or a marine biologist when i was younger, but i knew i could not handle the math courses needed for education in those fields.

12. i've always loved art and drawing, which i feel got me interested in web design.

13. i'm too much of a perfectionalist, and am often my own harshest critic.

14. when i was younger, i was called an 'elf' since i had extremely long hair and small pointy ears.

15. i occasionally wear skirts and dresses, but i prefer pants and shorts for comfort.

16. when i was younger i developed a weight problem that continually bothred me, but i lacked the motivation to get in shape.

17. i've finally started to exercise regularly and have begun losing the weight i've been trying to get rid of.

18. even though i know i shouldn't, i often put unattainable standards on myself and wish i could resemble the waif-thin, airbrushed models in magazines. -_-;

19. i've often felt inadequate because my sister has never had weight problems, and is quite thin.

20. my sister is almost my opposite; she's outgoing, has many friends, and has a degree in biology.

21. i have never had a boyfriend or serious relationship.

22. sometimes i like being around extroverts because they make me feel less shy.

23. i've played the violin for 9 years, and baroque music is my favorite genre to play.

24. although i love playing classical music, i can't stand listening to it.

25. people also say that i sing very well, but i'm too shy to sing in front of people i don't know.

26. my brother and i were once called twins. i guess this is because we used to look alike, and because we always get along so well and almost never argue.

27. my mother sent my brother and i to private school because she believed the elementary schools in our town were crappy. she was right.

28. when i was 12 i took the john hopkin's test to determine if i belonged in a gifted program. my low math scores kept me out.

29. i have been involved in web design for around 3 years, and it is a hobby that consumes most of my free time.

30. i used to take horseback riding lessons when i was younger.

31. things were going well until it was suggested that i ride double bare-back on a draft horse.

32. being the ever-graceful person that i am, i fell on my butt.

33. the other girl, however, managed to stay on.

34. i didn't take many more lessons after that.

35. i have a fear of bees, yet i've never been stung.

36. although it may not seem like it, i'm very emotional.

37. i often act like nothing bothers me, but actually i am very sensitive and i will cry over things that other people might consider insignificant.

38. it took me years to learn to open up to people, but i still have a hard time trusting people.

39. i dream of getting married, someday.

40. i would like to have my wedding ceremony on the beach or in a vineyard, so i can be close to nature.

41. i could never live where it's hot and humid all year long.

42. i find the northern united states to be more appealing than the south and west, in both climate and aesthetics.

43. i don't plan on ever having my own children, but i would consider adopting.

44. if i did adopt a child, i would want just one daughter.

45. i am strongly pro-choice, even though i don't agree that abortion is always the best choice. i think the decision should be left up to the individual woman, not the government.

46. i was raised in a semi-strict christian household, but i don't think i ever completely believed in what i was taught.

47. during high school i began doubting a lot of what i was told, so i prayed to god to help turn me back in the right direction.

48. when i recieved no answer from 'god', i decided i should follow my brain instead.

49. i soon became a hardcore atheist, and took delight in challenging my peers' beliefs.

50. later i realized what an asshole i probably was, so i decided not to bother unless someone challenged me first.

51. i rarely ever enter debates, but when i do, i can always defend myself without much effort.

52. ironically, i dislike public speaking of any kind because i have extreme stage fright.

53. i was also elected as historian of my school's drama club, but i declined when i realized that i had too much stage fright to act.

54. i'm no longer in the drama club, needless to say.

55. i dislike people who put up a facade when they are online, so i try to keep my 'online persona' as true to life as my real persona.

56. i think the only difference is my online persona is much more outgoing and friendly than my real persona.

57. i am normally very reserved and quiet, especially in social situations, where i can become even more introverted.

58. i always chose to work alone when the class was assigned group activities, because i was too scared to introduce myself to others.

59. as a result, people assumed i was a snob and did not wish to associate with them.

60. i was also accused of being a snob because i lived in the so-called "rich neighborhood".

61. i did not spend much time socializing in grade school. i would hear my acquaintances talk about sex, and i would become very uncomfortable because i often did not know what they were talking about and felt embarrassed that they knew things i did not. ^^;

62. i'm usually more comfortable giving advice than taking it.

63. i have not yet had actual sexual intercourse. ^^;

64. sometimes, i feel like i will be doomed to being a virgin forever as a result of being single. -_-

65. even if i was 80 and still a virgin, i would not have sex with someone unless i truly loved him.

66. while most of my views are very liberal, my morals are more on the conservative side.

67. i still hold no definite religious beliefs, but i believe that 'religion' and 'spirituality' are two entirely different things.

68. because i do not think science holds the answers for everything, most hardcore atheists think i am doing a disservice to them.

69. i find that atheists do not like to be told that they are often as dogmatic as the religious people they claim to dislike. ^^;

70. i would like to become a vegan, but i can not give up my love of chicken or dairy products. ^^;

71. i do not approve of animal testing for any reason other than medical science. i prefer to buy products that are not tested on animals if at all possible.

72. i often feel like i would fit in better during a different time in history.  possibly the 60's, but the drugs wouldn't interest me.  ^^;

73. my mother got contacts for me because she was convinved i would not wear my glasses anymore. in reality, they constantly gave me a headache, so i didn't wear them often. ><

74. i like to experiment with cosmetics, but i can never achieve the dramatic looks shown in magazines. i always end up looking like a clown whore. ^^;

75. i had to start wearing a bra in 5th grade, and even by then i was a 34B.

76. i do not believe in cosmetic surgery of any kind, and i think the lengths people go to achieve "perfection" are very foolish.

77. i do not have a very high view of myself, and i am always pointing out flaws.

78. i love to swim, but i feel very self-conscious in a bathing suit.

79. my personal element is air, although my sun sign element is fire. i can't say i feel NO connection to fire, but air just has more appeal to me.

80. rainy days are more preferable to me than sunny days.

81. i also feel a strong connection to water.

82. sometimes i wish i could escape into a fantasy world where everything has a happy ending.

83. i daydream a lot and often lose track of time while doing so.

84. i still believe in love, but i do not think it is as perfect and wonderful as people (movies and television) make it out to be.

85. i think love is about finding someone who will accept you for who you are, and not try to change you to become their "perfect mate". love is not about perfection, but about accepting the good AND bad about someone, because without bad times, there would be no reason to appreciate the good times.

86. i often feel like i will never find someone to love, and love me back.

87. other times, i'm optimistic that i will find someone in my future.

88. i often feel helpless and i would like to learn some method of self-defense.

89. unfortunately, often i feel helpless simply because i am a woman. because while we can hold jobs, run companies, and manage families, we still cannot fully prevent rape.

90. i sometimes think that women bring a lot of pain onto ourselves. we say we don't want to be treated like sex objects and then we prance around half-naked. women in general annoy me, but i don't think i would like being a man.

91. i love my mother, but she and i are not all that close.  she wanted a "normal" daughter, and she got me instead. ^^;

92. my father and i get along very well, and we understand each other. he's got many of the same kinds of quirks and eccentricts i do, and our views are similar on many topics.

93. i enjoy the art and stories of anime/manga, since they show that imagination can take on a whole new meaning.

94. i'd like to visit conventions, and pursue cosplaying.

95. even if i lose my interest in anime/manga, i am still fascinated by traditional japanese culture as well as japanese pop-culture, and i still hope to visit japan one day.

96. while i adore most aspects of japanese pop-culture, american pop-culture annoys the hell out of me.

97. i love goth fashion and i considered going 'goth', until i realized that shopping at hot topic didn't make me any less "trendy" than the people across the mall at abercrombie & fitch.

98. when i was younger i did not like myself, so i often emulated certain classmates i looked up to as well as fictional characters i admired because i thought i would like myself if i could become someone else.

99. i felt better after i could finally accept and love myself for who i am than i ever felt when i was trying to be someone i wasn't.

100. i wonder if anyone has taken the time to read this entire survey. ^^;
<img width='1' height='1' and "far away" from yesasia.com. eventually i want to get the maxi singles of "monochome", "audience", and "m" (i also want "fly high", but it seems to be out of print). i have some of the mp3's, but i always like to support my favorite artists and buy their cd's as well. i adore ayu. she's so cool... she's gorgeous, but realistic. she doesn't look or sound fake like other pop stars i could mention. *cough*britneyspears*cough* and her lyrics are great, in both english and japanese (considering that she also writes all her songs as well). i would give almost anything to see her in concert. *worship* :D

i took the inner dragon online quiz and found out I am a white dragon on the inside.

if there ever was an apparition of balance, power and reclusive intelligence, my inner dragon is it. whites are a fairly common dragon and are considered one of two harmonious dragons. my anti-thesis is the evil black dragon. together, we embody the yin and yang concept of eastern religions (especially taoism).

my inner dragon likes to think things out, plot against enemies, and look down upon the world from the highest mountain peaks. my favorable attributes are the day, the sun, truth, a positive attitude, and helpful magic. humans only need fear me when they stray into my domain without proper tribute. of course, that tribute would probably be a cake the size of a volkswagen, but hey, if they wanted to move through my turf they should have brought it, right? if someone ever really wanted a fight i'd be an impressive opponent, considering i pack a breath weapon combination of fire and lightning. even the nicest dragons can do some serious damage.
<img width='1' height='1' So of course we had to run the mile in gym, and my feet felt like they were being squeezed in a trash compactor. XO When I got home I used up about 10 bandaids per foot. I'd especially love to create a zen-type of garden that are so popular over in the East. The pebble walkways with large rock stepping-stones, raked stone gardens, along with ponds and large willow trees are so beautiful to me. *note to self: add "create dream house" to the list of things I must do in my lifetime!*

Hey Treize, if you need help on books or poetry I'd suggest sparknotes, which is basically the online equivalent of Cliff's Notes, without the cost! :D They give summaries, character descriptions, symbols, double meanings (the stupid "hidden messages" in stories that teachers supposedly say are there) and plenty of explanations. And apparently my aunts and uncles felt that I was the perfect candidate for annoying-brat sitting. XP I can't stand children- they smell, they scream, and they take away all the fun things about being older (aka actually getting to have a life and go out and do things). The rest of the vacation was fun, and the lake was very pretty. I even conned my mom and some of my cousins to go trail riding, which was nifty. :D I had a lovely chesnut mare named BK who liked to munch on plants along our trail. ^_^ I'm about to zonk out, so I'd better get to bed. ^^

Tomorrow I'll be going to Minnesota (boring capital of the world) with my mom, and I'll be gone until the 19th. We don't usually fight that much, but my mom's been around every day now because she's looking for a new job. She quit her old job as a principal, and now she's applying for superintendant or curriculum coordinator at different schools. But she's all nervous about finding one, because we need to make the first payment for my brother's college tuition soon. I've been trying to be helpful and encouraging, but she's starting to stress me out. This morning I asked her if we could go downtown because I wanted to spend a gift certificate I had for a music store, and I wanted to drive (so I don't forget everything before my driver's test). She said fine, and I waited until about 6:00 tonight until I asked her again. She said that now she was "too tired" and that I should have asked earlier. Which I did! >_< Usually I wouldn't mind not going, but I've been cooped in the house for the last two weeks, and I must get out, or I'm going to go insane. ;_; I simply can't wait to get out of this damn house at the end of the week when we leave for vacation. Luckily he was caught today, but not before killing two other people in New Hampshire too. The story started when a college kid was found missing a couple days ago who lived a few towns away from mine. Totally unrelated, an old caretaker of a motel was found dead in New Hampshire a few days later. Then a day later a man picked up a hitch hiker at night in New Hampshire too, and the hitch hiker pulled a knife on him and told him to drive him somewhere, or else he would kill him. The guy made a smart move by slamming on his brakes and jumping out of the car, running away before the hiker could act. The hitch hiker couldn't find him, and the guy eventually got to a phone and called the police, who found and arrested the hitch hiker. He then confessed to the murder of the guy in our town, the old man, and he eventually told them where to find the body and car of the missing college kid. x___x;; But holy crap that was scary- not only was a serial killer running amuck killing people, but in MY town, and without anyone even knowing it!! @__@ This all happened in the course of about 5 days, but I still can't believe I (or a lot of other people) didn't know about it. Sure, you don't have to tell anyone, but after awhile people are probably going to start questioning your intelligence/sanity, and are going to stop thinking it's "funny" or "cute" because they'll be fed up not knowing what the hell you're talking about.

I finally got the first Harry Potter book today, and it's great! And I just can't decide.  I have a lot of interests, but I don't know if I would want to make any one of them into my full-time career/job.  Let's see; I like web design, world history/cultures, and I desperately want to learn Japanese.  It's a big hope of mine.  :D   Oh, I love to sing too, but I don't see any music career in my future.  ^^;   So where does that leave me?  Maybe I'll go to Japan, where I can speak the language, learn about the culture, and design websites.  Yeah, right.  ^_^   I've given up the idea of being a vet too, mostly because I can't stand the idea of dissecting something like my cat or my dog.  ;_;   Besides, med school is very expensive (not to mention long- at least 6 years) and you have to be smater than a rocket scientist to get in to any of those schools.  But anyway, I most definatley want to go to a school that offers to teach courses on Japanese and the culture.  It probably seems like I'm worrying about this way ahead of time (I'm not even a Junior yet) but I worry a lot about this kind of stuff. The show was for 7:15 in Boston, so we planned on arriving at around 6:40 to get good seats at the theater.  My parents drove us, since they wanted to go to a restuarant in Boston, and because my mom is somewhat paranoid of the thought of my brother and I going to Boston alone.  :P   So we started out at 5:30, and before you know it, were stuck in traffic.  Luckily, we got passed the cause of the traffic (apparently someone had plunged off the side of a ravine- no comment) in only about 20 minutes.  However we then noticed the dark and looming sky ahead of us, and heard on the radio that there were severe thunderstorm warnings in our area.  Anyway, to make a long story short, we ended up driving through pouring rain and lightning that was practically hitting the ground outside our car in Boston looking for the cinema.  We found it eventually, though we went through several parking lots and rotaries.  X_x;   And we made it on time too!  Amazing, huh?  ^^   So Nathan and I got our seats, and then we had to wait about an hour for everyone to pile in the theater- about 50 people who were supposed to see the movie too couldn't fit in it was so packed.  *cough*  Anyway, I'm sure everyone's only interested in what the movie was like, not my trials and tribulations of getting there.  ^^;;

Well, it was...good. And in some ways, not so good. All I can really say is that don't come in expecting something like one of the Final Fantasy games- I was, and the movie is really nothing like any of the games. I think I'm being too critical since I know the backgrounds of all the games, and I wanted nothing short of amazing from Square. Which in some ways, it was. Visually and audibly it was very good. Some scenes look just like something in real life, but the whole movie is just not quite real looking enough...you can mostly tell it's CG. But it was pretty close to it! ^_^ The story was really the only "problem", if you can call it that. ^^; In all aspects, it was everything a Square story is- interesting, intriguing, emotional, and very realistic coming from the characters. But I think they just tried to squeeze a plot into a movie that needed more than two hours. I have quite a few unanswered questions that could have been answered with more time. Basically it's like trying to fit a 40+ hour typical FF video game type of story into a two-hour movie. Aside from that, I thought it was different (in a good way) from the typical FF series plots. Although there were some rather blatant references to things like the Lifestream in FFVII (a very important point in the movie) and other things I don't want to spoil. ;D And a very familiar name is once again included in a Final Fantasy related subject from the series- "It's warm!" XDDD (lmao, you must see the movie to understand me.) I have no clue how people who haven't played any of the games is interpreting the movie, but it will be interesting to see how it does! I think that if I had never played an FF game, I'd still be very impressed. Eventhough it sounds silly, I really want this movie to do well, so more people will be exposed to the wonderful world of Squaresoft and Final Fantasy like myself and many fans have. That, and when I mention Final Fantasy around people, I don't want to hear anymore "Huh, what's that?" or "Never heard of it before in my life." or the like. >_< It just bugs me how people can be so clueless about something so great. ;_; It's about time that Squaresoft and Final Fantasy got some of the recognition it deserves from the mainstream America, dammit! *Ameka gets beaten by the rabid teenybopper loserlites and crappy American pop-culture fanatics* Iiyaa... X_x;; Anywho, I'm very sleepy and tired, so goodnight, pe0plxrs. (and "goodnight, moon") >:D

I started driver's ed today, and I survived! ;D My class is ok (eventhough I don't know anyone) and there's only about 15 people. I sound enthusiastic, don't I? ^_^ Actually, I had I nice, peaceful day, although no one in my family wanted to drive to the harbor nearby and see the fireworks. Lazy people. :P And why is it that we only get to see fireworks once a year? Can't they make some other random day during the summer important so I can see more of those pretty fireworks? :D Besides the obvious pretty fireworks, I am fairly patriotic. ^^; I like my country a lot- it's better than most third-world countries where they execute you for saying your opinion. Although our incompetant leaders in this country don't give me much hope. If you want to know what I think of George Bush, just watch "That's My Bush!" on the Comedy Channel. That's basically how I (and thousands of other people, apparently) picture George W. Bush. I've always been used to having people around me and in the house- mostly my brother and sister- since I'm the youngest. I eventually got used to my sister being gone when she left for college, and it was just my brother and I most of the time (my parents work a lot). But now my brother has a full-time job, and it's basically me and the house. I actually like being alone, but not all the time. I try to go out and exercise, or call a friend to do something, but I'm still alone most of the time. Is this what it's going to be like next year when he's at college too? I honestly don't want to be in the spotlight, which being the youngest has given me the advantage not to be. I just don't like getting lots of attention; I like observing people more. In a lot of ways I guess I'll be "living by myself" next year as an only child. This will be...interesting.

Oh, wow- fireflies! *girlish giggle* I went out running around dusk and when I got back home, they were lighting up my backyard! :D I tried catching one, but it was already so buggy out and I was all hot and gross. :P Besides, catching fireflies is more fun with at least two people. "Gone in 60 Seconds" anyone? Yeah, it was like that and all those other nameless and utterly stupid fast-paced car movies from Hollywood. No, instead of getting to see something inovative like "Moulin Rouge" or even something somewhat interesting like "Tomb Raider" my friends came up with the bright idea that "hot guys" in the movie would make it worth seeing. I laughed. Eventhough fan service is not what I come to the movies for, even these "hot guys" were pretty ugly. Sweaty, dirty, and swearing "qualities" are not what I look for in any guy, thank you. Ok, so the cars go fast. Is that supposed to impress me or something? In some places in this movie I just cringed. For example, the whole big-overprotective-brother love thing. "You break her heart, I'll break your neck." Gee, that only pops up in what- every other movie made to date? I know that the focus of this movie wasn't the love story (or what there was of one) but anything original would be appreciated. I suppose if predictable plots, overdone action scenes, and boring characters are what you look for in a movie, go for it. Although I couldn't stop asking myself "is it over yet?" at least 10 times throughout the movie. And the only good song I heard was a techno song at a scene where there was a rave, and that was about it. I really need to see a good movie. I've never really collected much of anything, and the idea has always interested me a lot. There's just so much to choose from in the collection field. I love beach stuff, like sand dollars and starfish, but I'd be afraid of breaking them if I kept them out, and I wouldn't want to keep them in some box in my closet. Anime-wise there's so much to choose from- plushies, keychains, posters, figurines...I wouldn't know where to start. However, I do like collecting art. More like manga art! :DD It's just so pretty to me, and it's so different. I love finding really high-quality art online and such, a lot of which is from video games. Suprisingly, video games have some of the best and highest quality art. I'm extremely picky about what I collect though, so my collection grows very slowly. And many of the images I love can be seen in layouts. ;D

I want to see Moulin Rouge so bad, but I have no money. *makes kitty eyes* Won't someone take me?

I went to our drama club party today- it was the BEST party! I had so much fun. *^^* The party was at one of the seniors' houses, and it was absolutley beautiful. His house is right near a big pond, and his house itself is very old-fashoned and pretty. There was this gazebo outside that had a roof and wall made out of a criss-crossing pattern of wood, and there were flowers and vines growing all over it. It was so beautiful. The house is massive, and they had a pool and a canoe, a net for volibol and badmitton, a "game room" (with a pool table and ping pong table) and swings outside on these huge oak trees and everything. Gosh it was pretty. ^^ There were about 30 of us there, and we spent most of our time in the pool. Of course, we had to run out every hour or so because it was raining, and the lightning kept coming and going. :P But then we'd all run back in and start romping in the water again. ^_^ And while a bunch of us girls were talking while it was thundering, the guys filled a huge tub with water, and- suprise, suprise- snuck up on us and made us all wet. Did we care? No. We were already soaked. ^_^ But we got the guys back right before we left.
